The Association of Professional players in Major League Baseball (MLBPA) submitted a formal complaint to the third baseman of New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez against his sentence of 211 straight games without racing.
The penalty should have come into force today and is valid until the end of the season 2014, but the appeal will allow to the 38-year-old slugger to play at least until the release of the final opinion of the independent arbitration. And because the decision of Judge Fredric Horowitz is not expected before November, A-Rod will be able to finish this championship on the field.
The severe sanction was imposed on Rodriguez on Monday because of "violations of anti-doping program and the collective agreement of MLB".
