Ottmar Hittsfeld revealed the reasons why he refused to take the German national team ten years ago. The skilled Specialist is negotiating with the German Football Association after a disappointing European Championship of the Bundestima in 2004.
"After six years at Bayern I was on the verge of my powers," said Hittsfeld who ended his career after the World Cup in Brazil earlier this year, where led Switzerland in the second round.
"The joy, the adrenaline and motivation are essential in sports, so some things were not good for me. I just was not ready to accept this challenge. I did not have the necessary energy and when with the health you are not well, there is no way to introduce yourself to the best level, "said 65-year-old Hittsfeld.
