20.10.2017
Former Croatian national Ivan Klasic has undergone a third kidney transplant, the Splitsky Diary reported. The 37-year-old man was operated on Tuesday in Zagreb and is currently recovering in a hospital there. Klausch`s problems started 10 years ago. In 2007, former striker Werder (Bremen) received a kidney from his mother, but shortly after, his body rejected the new body. This made Clausch`s father also give him a kidney, and the surgery was successful this time. The attacker even managed to recover on time and take part in Euro 2008.
About a year ago, antibodies began to develop in his body, and his kidney again refused, and in the last months the former footballer had undergone hemodialysis. Because of the antibodies, Klasnic could not get a kidney from a relative. The name of the man who gave the kidney to save the famous Croat is unknown to the local press.
The former top scorer ceased his career in 2013
