The champion remains in Adriatic League

The champion remains in Adriatic League
14.05.2013

The champion of this year's Adriatic League Maccabi Tel Aviv can play in the race and in next season. This will happen if the Israeli league didn't increase the quota for foreigners. The club owner David Federman said that the team will participate in two races next year, one is the Euroleague. The question is whether the onther we'll be Adriatic League or the national championship in Israel.

At the heart of the conflict between the management of Maccabi and the local league is the limited number of foreigners who can play in the league.

"If we hadn't played in the Adriatic League in March we would have three foreign players who we would be wondering what to do with them" said Federman.

If the Israeli league increased the number of foreigners who are eligible to participate, it is certain that Maccabi won't play in the Adriatic League. Until then, it won't be clear whether Serbia can count on the fourth regional representative in the prestigious race.

Maccabi Tel Aviv won the Adriatic League after success over Croatian Tsedevita with 87:77 points in the final played at Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv. Maccabi became the sixth club who wins the tournament since its founding 11 years ago.
