Federer dealt with debutant Sok

Federer dealt with debutant Sok
13.11.2017

Roger Federer beat Deputy Jack Sock in the first ATP Finals match and achieved the 50th win of the season. The Swiss won 6: 4, 7: 6 (4) for 1 hour and 32 minutes. Later today is the other match of the Boris Becker group between Alexander Zverev and Marin Cilic.

Federer broke in the first game and without any problems kept his lead until the end of the first set. The second part was more equal, with Sock giving all of it, but it was not enough and Roger finished the match after the tiebreak. The encounter with the American was the perfect start for Federer, who will gradually find himself rhythm after having barely trained the last two weeks. This did not prevent him from getting some of his brilliant shots and taking a fourth victory in four games against Sok, who has not yet won a set against him. So Roger started his record-breaking 15th ATP Finals. The American who, at the last moment, secured his participation in London after the success of the Masters in Paris, showed nervousness, but only at the beginning. But that cost him the first set because he made a break in the first game. Gradually he entered the game, and Federer was not particularly convincing in his serve games. However, the Swiss did not allow a chance to break through the entire game. He kept his advance and finished the first part for 38 minutes.

In the second set, Juck showed he did not come to London for a walk, with no apparent signs of fatigue after his triumph in Paris. At times he showed an excellent game and even held back Roger`s pressure. In the seventh and ninth game, the American saved two breakthroughs and then another, leading things to a tiebreak. In it he complicated things with a double mistake, after which Federer had to serve twice and ended the match with ace.
