Investigating ex-head of Greek football for financial abuse
28.11.2017
Former Greek Football Federation President Vassilis Gagatsis is being investigated for misappropriation. Athens prosecutors have filed charges against Gagacsis, who is currently the executive director of the country`s football super league, for a 1-million-Swiss franc target from UEFA in 2008. The amount was to be spent on restoring soccer equipment suffered by the major forest fires in southern and central Greece in 2007, killing more than 70 people.
Instead, Gagaczis used the money to pay a bonus to former national team manager Otto Rehhagel.
German Rehagel, who brought Greece to a sensational triumph at Euro 2004, has not been investigated.
