16.02.2018
Moldovan Radu Albot was surprisingly eliminating host hostess John Isner and qualified for the quarterfinals of a hardcore tennis tournament in a New York Hall with a prize pool of 668, 000 dollars. Albot, 91th in the world rankings, defeated third in the Isner Schedule with 7:6 (5), 3:6, 6:3 in just over two hours of play.
The American semi-finalist in the 2013 race drew 28 aces, but that was not enough after he made a decisive breakthrough in the sixth game of the third set. Albot will play in the quarterfinals against the three-time champion Kai Nishikori (Japan).
Nishikori, who was placed under number 5, handled Russian Evgeni Donskoy with 6:2, 674. The Japanese played in his first ATP tournament since August last year after recovering from a wrist injury on his right hand.
Number 4 Adrian Manarino set off in the second round Peter Goyovchik with 6:7 (5), 7:5, 4:1 and denying the German for injury. Manarino will meet Spanish midfielder Adrian Menendez-Masayras in the quarterfinals, who has managed another 7:5, 7:6 Frenchman Jeremy Shardy.
