The Paris police prefect spoke about security at the France-Israel match. Earlier it became known about a pro-Palestinian demonstration planned in Saint-Denis with the support of the left-wing party France Invictus (LFI). The purpose of the demonstration is, among other things, to cancel the Nations League match. The procession may pass just 1. 5 km from the Stade de France, where today`s match will take place. This could cause serious problems as Israeli fans would be forced to pass through it to enter the stadium.
If there are threats to disrupt public order, the Parisian police will have to ban the demonstration.
There`s no real threat, but it`s still a high-risk matchup. We see tensions, especially related to pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Therefore we must maintain utmost concentration.
The reaction of the internal security forces under my leadership will be extremely harsh. I would like this to sound reassuring but firm to those who want to incite unrest.
The demonstration doesn`t bother me any more than anything else - it`s a rally. If people couldn’t get into [the stadium], we would prevent it from happening, ” said Laurent Nunez.
Only 20, 000 tickets were sold for the match between France and Israel - a possible anti-record for the national team`s attendance at the Stade de France. The field was surrounded by spiked bars
