Dan Ashworth has resigned as Manchester United`s sporting director. The Athletic reports this.
Ashworth worked in this post for only 5 months.
The decision to leave Ashworth was made at a meeting with chief executive Omar Berrada at Old Trafford after the 2-3 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday. It is noted that Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe played a decisive role in the decision to part ways.
Although United was the initiator of the separation, the contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Manchester United spent about £200 million under Ashworth in the summer. The club acquired Leni Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkze.
