Mikel Arteta is pleased with Arsenal`s performance in the match with Monaco (3:0). Of course, I`m very happy. We scored three goals, didn`t concede and won.
We started the game very well, we should have finished the job in the first half, but we didn`t. There are difficult moments in the Champions League and we suffered, but after the second goal the game was under control.
The goals were very different. That`s what we want - to be a threat in every phase of the game. We could have scored more, but in any case we are very happy.
I want to say a few words about Miles [Lewis-Skelly]. Making your Champions League debut at 18 is a big deal. I like his courage, the position he takes, his work with the ball. He is one of us and has a bright future ahead of him. The club and coach should be happy with his success. It`s wonderful to be able to make a difference in someone`s life.
We had some problems, the opponents put six players on the field, and only the full-backs provided width. They had a large rotation that was difficult to handle. I think the substitutions helped us, they gave us energy and helped us build structure. Every person is important, it is impossible to put the same players in the squad every three days.
[Bukayo Saka] looks really mature. What he has already achieved at his age is incredible. He`s very humble, a pleasure to work with, and incredibly talented.
He`s special. In his role, he shows increasing leadership qualities. He gets along well with both young players and experienced ones. Everyone loves him and he plays an important role on the pitch, ” the Arsenal head coach said in an interview with TNT Sports.
