Jos Verstappen: It`s getting harder for Max and Norris to be friends

Verstappen Sr. spoke about the struggle and friendship of his son with Norris. Former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen answered questions about the friendship between drivers - in particular, between his son Max Verstappen and McLaren leader Lando Norris.
– How do you look at friendship in the paddock? There`s been a lot of talk this season about the friendship between Max and Lando Norris in light of their rivalry. After the clash in Austria, they still said that their friendship remained intact. But is this possible as the intensity of the struggle grows?
– It’s getting more difficult, it seems to me. Of course, the title was on the line for a long time. Max knows this and takes it quite simply. He understands well where the line is between relationships on and off the track. He is very mature in this regard.
– Does friendship even exist in the paddock?
– If you look back at my time in Formula 1, I didn`t have any friends. At least those with whom I would stay in touch. There wasn`t any at all. I chose my own friends.
By the way, I get the feeling that most of the guys on the grid today are getting along well off the track. Many have known each other for a long time, from karting. There are about ten guys with whom he always raced in go-karts. So there is a slightly closer relationship between them, but at the same time, everyone lives their own life, does their own thing.
At the same time, Max is a sociable guy off the track, he behaves well and normally with everyone. In my time, such relationships between pilots were different anyway.
