Simon Kier completes his playing career. This is the ex-defender of Milan and the Denmark’s national team will officially announce in an interview with the TV 2 Sport channel, which will be published on Friday.
- Now is it really the time to close this chapter. I made this decision not after summer, but a year before the European Championship.
In fact, thoughts began to arise already in the fall of 2023. Then I realized that my time in Milan was coming to an end.
- it does not bother you that the decision was made only now, six months later, when people were wondering, will you return? That everything ends that way?
- not at all. In my view, it all ended in Milan. I knew that it could not be a better end. The farewell that was in San-siro and this experience . . . I realized that this is my finale.
I had no need to declare anything to someone except myself. Looking back, I can say that I could easily do even more and something even more significant after Milan. But I don`t need it.
That is why we are talking about this in January - for me loud farewell was not important, ”said Kier.
The last time the football player played at the club level for Milan on May 25 against Salernitana. In the past, Kier also represented such teams as Atalanta, Seville, Fenerbahce, Lill, Roma, Wolfsburg, Palermo and Midtoyulland.
The defender played for the Danish national team from 2009 to 2024 and held 132 matches - the second indicator in the history of the male team. In 2016, Simon became the captain of the national team.
