FIA took more than three months to come up with this new technical directive. If the team optimized its car for the rejection of [the front wing on tests] at 15 mm, for the first eight races, and earns large glasses - great, but not every team is capable of it. The rest can be tuned to those 16 races when the deviation is reduced to 10 mm.
These changes mean that any team that tuned the car under the first eight races will require a new wing. Of course, it will be new from a structural point of view. But another profile may be needed.
I also do not like that the FIA punishes the pilots for bad solutions, and also writes out fines to the teams for unsafe release. In both cases, they have milliseconds to make a decision, and not three months - it was so much required by the FIA to introduce new tests for deviation.
Now, by the beginning of February, most of the teams have already decided on the characteristics of the Bolid-2025 and focused on the machine-2026-developed under substantially altered aerodynamic rules. Therefore, it was not so experienced engineers who left points over I in terms of development of the Bolid-2025. Now all this needs to be changed.
In the place of the technical director, I would be quite annoyed by this change. Not because my front wing, I think, bends better than others, but because it is a change in the middle of the season. FIA says: such changes are aimed at further clarification of our abilities to monitor the regulations for flexibility and its implementation, providing equal conditions for all participants in the framework of promoting an honest and exciting struggle. In fact, this in no way creates equal conditions.
We all want a dense struggle to continue from the first to the last race, but Fia simply tore off it. I’m not saying that everything will be so, but it can turn out a championship of eight races and a championship of 16 races, ”Anderson wrote in his column.
