Lane Hatson from Montreal became the best novice of the NHL in December. The 20-year-old American defender spent 14 games in the last month of 2024 and scored 13 (2+11) points.
In the dispute for the award, Khatson went around McKlin Selebrini (San Jose), Matvey Michkova (Philadelphia), Emil Heineman (Montreal) and Dustin Wulf (Kalgary).
In the list of the best scorers among newcomers, Hatson, who scored 26 (2+24) points in 37 games, is second only to Michkov (29, 12+17) and Selebrini (27, 12+15).
