Napoli has prepared a new contract for Mertens

Napoli`s leadership is ready to offer a new contract to striker Dries Mertens. At the moment, the Belgian is tied to the Neapolitan by 2020, but the bosses have decided to offer him a new contract, the main reason being that they want to remove the ransom clause, which is currently 28 million euros. The idea came personally from Napoli Aurelio De Laurenti`s president. He is very pleased with the form of 30-year-old Mertens in the last two seasons, and he does not want to let him go so easily. That is why he will do his utmost to stop the Belgian from re-signing, but there is no such redemption clause in the new treaty. To this end, he is even willing to increase the striker`s salary to 5 million euros a year.
